Wangari Mathenge: Re-membering
On view · Sep 17 – Oct 24
Wangari Mathenge's first solo show at Lévy Gorvy Dayan centers on her ongoing Re-membering series, which grew from her study of Kenyan colonial literature and objects made between 1900 and 1963. Viewers will see five newly debuted paintings of solitary figures seen from above, surrounded by books and textiles, plus her first publicly shown sculpture. The ground-floor presentation runs through October 24.
