Exploring the Unseen: The Sculptures of Tanaka Yū
Upcoming · Nov 5 – Dec 18Japan

Kyoto-based sculptor Tanaka Yū, born in 1989, works only in clay. Her pieces look like Japanese wrapping cloths folded around hidden boxes or vessels, yet every fold is fired ceramic, built by coiling Shigaraki-blended clay and finished with thin slip layers. Often seen in turmeric yellow, they draw on the postwar Sodeisha movement and ask what a container really holds. This show presents her work in New York.
