This guided evening tour strings together two of New York's best-known holiday scenes: Bryant Park's Winter Village in Midtown and the lavishly decorated streets of Dyker Heights in Brooklyn. It runs daily at 4:30 pm, meeting outside 1001 Avenue of the Americas. Guests should arrive 15 minutes early to check in.
The first stop is the Bank of America Winter Village at Bryant Park, now in its 25th season. It has a free ice rink and more than 180 vendors. From there, the guide leads the group onto the subway for the ride to Brooklyn. The trip includes a look at subway life, including the performers who play in the stations, and some history of the system.
Dyker Heights is the neighborhood where homeowners go all out with Christmas displays. The tour visits the Sparta House and the Polizzotto home, which has what is described as the largest Santa display in Brooklyn. The route involves a modest amount of walking.
The lights are expected to switch on around November 27 and usually glow fully by early December, so late November or December is the better window.
Tickets cost $59.99 for adults and $49.99 for children, and children under 2 go free without a ticket. The price covers an English-speaking guide and a round-trip MetroCard. Tickets are sold by date and session through Fever.
