NYC Plant Market Returns to Culture Lab LIC on October 18

NYC Plant Market comes to Culture Lab LIC in Long Island City on Sunday, October 18, running from 1 to 7pm. The venue is at 5-25 46th Avenue, Long Island City, NY 11101, and tickets are sold online through Humanitix.

Nearly fifty vendors are on the list. Expect houseplant and succulent growers alongside specialists: Fair Orchids for orchids, Bonsai Bar, Sundew For Sale for carnivorous plants, and Blue Boy Begonias. Enthusiast societies are also taking part, including the New York Cactus and Succulent Society and the Manhattan Orchid Society.

Not everything is green. Ceramics from Material Intent Ceramics and Subspecies Ceramics, fiber art from Suri & Caya Fiber Art Designs, and food from Matylda's Food and El Pernil Ecuatoriano round out the lineup, so you can eat between rounds of shopping.

Two programs run during the day. The Community Plant Swap, organized by NYC Plant Exchange, lets visitors trade plants with one another. Plant Daddy MD hosts a free Plant Clinic for care questions. For Japanese readers who enjoy gardening, it is a chance to hunt for unusual varieties and pick up local growing advice in one afternoon.
