On the Upper East Side, NYC: Sabine Marcelis's Resin Mirrors Debut at Salon 94 Design
Rotterdam-based Sabine Marcelis showed her first US solo exhibition, Phases, at Salon 94 Design. Among the new work were cast-resin mirrors, round and vertical, with ombré tints that filter reflections through color.

Sabine Marcelis works from a studio in Rotterdam's harbor and has built one of the most closely watched practices in contemporary design. From June 4 to July 29, 2026, Salon 94 Design at 3 E 89th Street on the Upper East Side presented Phases, her first solo exhibition in the United States.
Every piece was conceived for the gallery. The starting points were natural cycles: lunar phases, earthshine, atmospheric color and the slow shift between darkness and daylight. The show treated objects as things that change under shifting conditions rather than as fixed forms.
The mirrors made the debut especially tangible. The round Orb mirror and the vertical Phase mirrors are cast in resin with ombré tints. Each flat surface returns the viewer and the surrounding room filtered through color, and the tint loosens any sense of orientation, so what comes back is subtly altered. How a mirror reads depends on the light, the room and where you stand.
Around them, the exhibition included twelve Lune sconces in cast resin, each named for a full moon of the year and lit by an LED that tunes from cool to warm. Three Nebula spheres in pale green, warm amber and deep plum each held a colored core. Beam tables in dining, coffee and console formats rested their tops on a single beam. A thirteen-foot resin Beam Light ran overhead, and a leaning Dawn light in deep burgundy resin marked the passage between sky and floor.
Marcelis has described the question driving her work as how to capture the fleeting color of a sunset, when clouds and sun mix, in a permanent object. The show has closed. Pricing for the mirrors was available on inquiry, and the gallery's website carries installation views and individual artwork pages.
