On Friday, Oct. 30, the Friday before Halloween, SoHo Live at 94 Lafayette St turns into a costume party and concert for adults. The event, called Poor Unfortunate Souls, is open only to guests 21 and older and stars The Little Mermen & The Princess Pals, a tribute band that plays Disney songs.
The set draws on Mulan, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, The Lion King, Frozen and more, with a few Disney Channel throwbacks mixed in. The organizers pitch it as a loud, rock-leaning shot of nostalgia for people who wore out their VHS tapes, from an era before anyone talked about live-action remakes.
Beyond the music, the night promises special guests from the Broadway stage and the NYC scene, a costume contest, themed cocktails and other surprises. Guests are encouraged to come in costume, order a drink and sing along. Tickets are limited.
Doors open at 7 PM, and the show runs from 7:30 to 10 PM. Advance tickets start at $18, which comes to $22.71 with fees on the ticket page, and prices rise by $7 at the door. Tickets are sold through the venue's VenuePilot page.
For anyone who grew up on these soundtracks and wants a Halloween outing in SoHo that combines live music with dressing up, this is an easy fit.
