At Times Square Space in NYC, "Live Sex Acts" Revisits Midtown's Adult Venues, 1960s–80s
Times Square Space presents an 18+ show of photographs and artworks by Vivienne Maricevic, Scott Ewalt and Alix Vernet on Times Square's adult venues from the late 1960s to mid-1980s. Open Thursday to Saturday through November 15.

"Live Sex Acts," an exhibition at Times Square Space, runs from September 18 to November 15, 2026. The show is restricted to visitors 18 and older. It looks at the adult venues that lined Times Square from the late 1960s to the mid-1980s.
Three artists are featured: Vivienne Maricevic, Scott Ewalt and Alix Vernet. Through photographs and artworks, they present a Times Square very different from the tourist destination of today.
Times Square Space was founded in 2016 as an artist residency and exhibition program. It takes over vacant office and retail spaces between tenancies and turns them into temporary settings where artists can develop and present new work. Its rotating program of residencies, exhibitions, performances and collaborative projects aims to create a dialogue between contemporary art and the particular cultural landscape of the neighborhood.
The space is open Thursday to Saturday, noon to 6 p.m., and by appointment at other times. Entry is free. It is at 1500 Broadway; enter on the corner of 43rd Street.
With the run ending on November 15, the remaining weeks are the time to go for anyone interested in New York's recent history and how a neighborhood changes. Given the subject matter, visitors under 18 are not admitted.
