Needles has teamed up with A Tribe Called Quest, the group that fused jazz and hip-hop and rewrote music history, on a new capsule collection. The pieces sample the artwork from the group's classic 1991 album The Low End Theory. The collection goes on sale Friday, October 30, in store at Nepenthes New York and online.

There are four items in all. The centerpiece is the BB Jacket, which carries the album artwork as a large chenille patch across the back. The Track Jacket and Track Pant are made in ATCQ's signature colors, and the two can be worn together as a set.

The Roll Neck Cardigan may be the most interesting piece. It reproduces the body-painting pattern from the album artwork using the 3D knitting technique of COOGI, the Australian knitwear maker that was a huge hit in the hip-hop scene of the 90s. It's a nod to the era's streetwear that will read as nostalgia for some and as something new for others.

Every item also carries a special version of the Needles butterfly embroidery, the brand's best-known design element. Here it is reimagined in ATCQ's Pan-African colors.

Nepenthes New York, the Japanese-rooted retailer behind the release, is on West 38th Street in Midtown. For fans of Needles and fans of 90s hip-hop alike, this one is worth a visit on release day, which falls on a Friday.
