At the northwest end of Pier 6 in Brooklyn Bridge Park sits Fireboat, a floating bar built on a retired FDNY vessel, the Governor Alfred E. Smith, which entered service in 1961. It comes from Crew, the hospitality group behind the waterborne favorite Grand Banks, and it opened in June 2026 as a new warm-weather fixture on the Brooklyn Heights waterfront.

The signature gimmick is the plumbing: the boat's old fire hoses have been converted into taps that dispense drinks. The list is built for the waterfront, with spritzes, crisp bubbles, island-style cocktails, summery wines and cold beers on ice.

The food leans Caribbean. Expect salt cod hushpuppies, ceviche with chips, BBQ prawn skewers and a jerk chicken sandwich that the team calls its signature, plus piña colada ice cream for dessert. Full drink and food menus are posted as PDFs on the Crew website.

Seating is reserved exclusively for walk-in guests, first come, first served. Only larger groups on the upper deck and private events go through an inquiry form on the official site.

In the summer season Fireboat is open 4pm to 10pm on weekdays and 11am to 10pm on weekends. It is currently closed for the season. For anyone who likes a drink with New York Harbor views and the Manhattan skyline across the water, it is one of the more distinctive perches on the Brooklyn side.
