November at New York's public libraries goes well beyond the stacks, and Brooklyn Heights Library at 286 Cadman Plaza West is a good place to see it. The branch is hosting The Cycle Alliance's Period Pantry, a program focused on period equity, in several sessions right at the start of the month.
The first dates are Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.; Monday, Nov. 2 at 10 a.m.; Tuesday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m.; and Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. All of them take place in the branch's Gaming Room, and start times shift from day to day, so match the weekday to the hour.
The rest of the early-November calendar is full. On Monday there is Chair Yoga at 10:30 a.m., American and Chinese Mahjong at noon, and a drop-in meditation class at 5 p.m. Tuesday brings Read with a Dog at 4 p.m. and an English Conversation Group at 6 p.m. Wednesday has two Toddler Time sessions, at 10:30 and 11:15 a.m. Adults can also book one-on-one technology help, drop in on Ask A Tech, or use the Immigrant Job Support sessions.
The building is new, with dedicated areas for children and teens, private meeting rooms, and a main hall with books, seating and a reading circle. Jean Shin's Something Borrowed, Something Blue (2023) remains on view through Dec. 31, 2026.
Hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; Tuesday 1–8 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Saturday 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; and Sunday 1–5 p.m. The branch is fully accessible and served by the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, A, C, F and R trains plus the B25, B26, B38, B41, B52 and B103 buses. Laptop loans, meeting rooms and an after-hours book drop are available. Phone: 718-623-7100.
