Confidant has opened at 127 Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn Heights, bringing a new Contemporary American restaurant to the neighborhood. It is run by chef-owners Brendan Kelley and Daniel Grossman. Kelley's background includes Aska and Per Se, while Grossman comes from Gage & Tollner, one of Brooklyn's best-known dining rooms.

The kitchen works from a seasonal menu that rotates through the year. The stated approach is to bring bold, inventive flavors to familiar dishes, with a particular focus on dry-aged fish and meat. Dry-aging is more often associated with beef, so seeing fish treated the same way is the detail that sets the menu apart. Expect the lineup to change with the seasons.

Photos from the restaurant show a polished but relaxed room, with wine poured at the table and plated dishes served in simple bowls. That suits a long dinner as easily as a glass of wine and a few plates.
